After returning to the office in 2023 following the birth of her second child, Suzy recommends ASC to parents looking for a good work-life balance.
In Suzy’s own words:
“ASC has lots of benefits and I would recommend ASC to anyone, especially working parents, if you’d like to find a good balance between your personal life and work life. ASC offers 24 weeks parental leave, which is an extremely generous benefit, and it took the financial stress away so I could enjoy that time with my family. ASC offers transition plans as well as ‘keep in touch days’ so you can ease back into the workforce. ASC also provides a financial contribution towards childcare which has helped me comfortably return to work.”
“Flexibility means everything to me. I work two days in the office and one day from home. It helps me want to go above and beyond in my role and then I get to go home and be present with my two kids.”
Suzy graduated from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management) and spent five years working in a recruitment agency before joining ASC in 2021.
With a deep interest in defence and a desire to make a positive difference, Suzy’s currently helping with the recruitment of graduates, undergraduates and apprentices to ASC.
“I enjoy roles that have a true purpose. I came in as a recruitment coordinator. A few months into my role, I was promoted to recruitment advisor. To have my manager see the potential in me for the promotion was a really fulfilling moment.”
“The professional development opportunities at ASC are boundless. If someone is taking their career quite seriously and wants to start a career in defence, ASC has a good company culture. It’s very supportive here. The managers and the leaders are great mentors and having that company culture is what makes us different. It’s helped me to try new things and step out of my comfort zone.”
