ASC has been recognised for its outstanding procurement and supply chain practices through a highly regarded international accolade.
ASC received the CIPS Procurement Excellence Programme Advanced Silver Award, from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).
CIPS corporate certification is the only independent, procurement-specific assessment of its kind that benchmarks a company’s procurement function against international standards.
ASC Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Stuart Whiley, said the Silver Award reflects not only the outstanding work of ASC employees, but the professionalism and capability of Australia’s defence industry supply chain.
“ASC’s supply chain is valued at several hundred millions dollars, is comprised hundreds of companies representing more than 90 per cent Australian Industry Content (AIC). So, this Silver Award reflects not only the excellence of our team, but that of the nation’s broader defence industry,” Mr Whiley said.
“Our sovereign suppliers continue to meet the high standards expected in maintaining Australia’s frontline naval capabilities, and we place tremendous value in these relationships.
“We strive for international best practice in procurement for our customer, the Royal Australian Navy, and the thousands of people employed in this supply chain.”
To qualify for the Silver Award, ASC was required to demonstrate the value its procurement function adds to the business, as part of a rigorous, outcomes-based assessment.
ASC became the first Australian defence company to receive the standard CIPS certification in 2018, after an extensive examination of its procurement policies and procedures. The CIPS Silver Award takes this a step further, acknowledging the strategic alignment of ASC’s procurement function with the objectives of the company.
