ASC Interim Chief Executive Officer Stuart Whiley has today congratulated the first of its employees to reach their 30-year service milestones.
Stephen Bitmead, Engineering Manager – Future Projects; John Moloney, Principal Designer; and Andrew Stevens, Systems Engineering Manager (Future Submarine Technical Office) all joined the company in January 1988.
Mr Whiley said that throughout their careers, Stephen, John and Andrew have been critical in the design, installation, build and ongoing maintenance of the Collins Class submarines.
“They and their colleagues at ASC are a crucial part of Australian submarine expertise and knowledge as the country prepares to build the next generation of submarines,” Mr Whiley said.
The trio were seconded to Malmö, Sweden to work with the Collins Class designer, Kockums, along with to ensure the submarines were equipped for the unique and complex environment in which Australian submarines operate.
“Together their colleagues, many of whom are still working for ASC, they became the seedbed for the Australian sovereign submarine capability that ASC is now known for,” Mr Whiley said.
“Congratulations Stephen, John and Andrew – here’s to many more years of service helping to build and maintain Australian submarines,” he said.
